USDA, 2025 crop year →How to read it
“Floral hemp” is USDA’s category for hemp used to extract essential oils from plant resin, including CBD, CBG, CBN, other phytocannabinoids, and smokable hemp. It is not a shorthand for every hemp product sold at retail.
USDA reports open-field production separately from hemp grown under protection. The totals also distinguish planted acres, harvested acres, production volume, and value. Those measures answer different questions, so they should not be swapped or combined casually.

Sources and method
Every statistic on this page is drawn from one primary source: the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service’s National Hemp Report, released April 16, 2026. The report covers the 2025 crop year and was based on USDA’s Hemp Production and Disposition Inquiry, conducted from February through March 2026, alongside federal administrative data.
The USDA notes that its estimates may be revised after further review. Values are shown here in the same units and with the same year-over-year comparisons reported by USDA. The page will be reviewed after the next annual release, or sooner if the source is updated.
